Just as Nathan Lane is opening with a new play on Broadway, PBS presents a preserved-on-TV version of his last one: The Nance, Douglas Carter Beane’s 2013 drama about an actor in the 1930s who plays exaggeratedly flamboyant characters on stage, while secretly being gay himself. Check local listings.

The title of tonight’s episode, “The Golden Lotus,” suggests that drugs will play a major part in this week’s episode, too – as Thackery (Clive Owen), in his drug-addicted fervor, seems to stray farther from the light, even as his surgical skills remain, so to speak, unmatched.

There’s no baseball until tomorrow, but thanks to CBS’s one-year contract with the NFL, there’s football tonight. The Indianapolis Colts face the Houston Texans – and at this point in the season, both teams sport 3-2 records and share the lead in the AFC South. The other two teams are bottom-feeders already, so this game means a lot towards leveraging for playoffs position.

We’re down to, or up to, the Top 5 in this year’s fashion-design competition, and tonight’s challenge involves a different type of makeover. Instead of making over their models, or people snared off the street, or children brought in by parents, tonight the designers are tasked with making over a design – a losing look from a previous show – and making it into something more palatable.

Thursday night is Ghosts Night all this month on TCM, and tonight, one of the movies shown is 1947’s The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, which stars Gene Tierney as a young widow who moves to a seaside cottage and encounters the ghost of its former resident, a New England seafarer played by Rex Harrison. I note this film because, when I was a kid, I had no idea it existed. So when TV came up with a 1968 sitcom called The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, starring Hope Lange and Edward Mulhare, I didn’t know

In tonight’s episode, Zeek (Craig T. Nelson) is prepped for surgery. And though his spirits are high, I’m worried, because this is the final season for Parenthood. Anything can happen to anyone at any time – including the beloved family patriarch.

This 1977 movie turned disco into a phenomenon, both musically and in terms of night life, and made a major, enduring movie star out of Karen Lynn Gorney. Just kidding on that last one – but she’s the female lead here, opposite John Travolta, who did launch a major, enduring movie career with this still-iconic role. And it’s a career that, almost 40 years later, is staying alive, staying alive…

American Horror Story’s fourth installment, subtitled Freak Show, premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 8th. Expect to reap a wealth of depravity and disfigurement during what very much looks to be the best reincarnation yet of a bold, disturbing franchise...

SERIES PREMIERE: This spinoff of Arrow actually was unveiled last night, but tonight, after the season premiere of Arrow, the DC Comics series that spawned it, it has a next-day repeat airing, and it’s worth a look. That’s especially true in this context, where The Flash shines by comparison: It’s lighter, more entertaining, and all-out better than Arrow – and more of a TV superhero bullseye. The special effects are quite good – but it’s Grant Gustin, formerly

On tonight’s episode, Cartman is upset by Stan’s girlfriend, who, according to the grapevine, has expressed a recently discovered interest in the female sex. So, Cartman wants to know, what does that make Stan? A hint from the episode’s title: “The Cissy.”
