John Oliver was on to the immigrant child issue weeks before most of the media, devoting one week’s central segment to an imagined kiddie court where clueless youngsters serve as lawyers and judges for various adult defendants. It was the flip side of the then-current reality, when young defendants, required legally to defend their status as immigrants entering the U.S., had no idea what was at stake, or how to proceed, and when not even the courts were equipped to help them. So how will O

All three of today’s World Cup games are televised by Fox, so you don’t even need cable to watch a day’s worth of live action from Russia. The first game, at 8 a.m. ET, pits the dominant Belgium team against Tunisia. The second game, at 11 a.m., presents South Korea vs. Mexico. Mexico, of course, stunned everyone in the first round of games by defeating defending champion Germany. And the final game, Germany vs. Sweden (at 2 p.m. ET), allows Germany its shot at redemption, with

This 2017 sequel offers the same high levels of action and energy as the original Kingsman film, but the main draw for this one is the supporting cast assembled to surround recent spy recruit Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and veteran secret agent Harry (Colin Firth). This time around, there’s a new villain, a sort of cross between Martha Stewart and Dr. Evil (played by Julianne Moore, pictured), and new American spy counterparts (played by, among others, Jeff Bridges and Halle Berry).

MOVIE PREMIERE: This new Netflix premiere of a 2016 fact-based movie is based on the memoir by Susannah Cahalan, a young reporter for The New York Post who began to suffer symptoms – seizures, blackouts, memory loss – that baffled doctors and disrupted her work and home life. Chloe Grace Moretz stars as Susannah – and since I worked at the Post for six years a long, long time ago, I can say they at least got the general newsroom atmosphere right.

SEASON PREMIERE: The expansive universe of Marvel Comics TV series on Netflix is an ambitious but mixed bag: Daredevil is quite good, Iron Fist is quite bad, and Luke Cage, which returns today with a new season, is somewhere in between.  The best of all these shows is Marvel’s Jessica Jones, which transcends the genre with its character study of an emotionally scarred and wounded woman (played so well by Krysten Ritter) with enhanced abilities she doesn’t even want.  Jessic

The first game televised today is shown on Fox Sports 1, and is between two Group E teams still looking for their first wins: Brazil and Costa Rica (Costa Rica lost to Serbia, while the heavily favored Brazil tied with Switzerland). At 11 a.m. ET, the action switches to the Fox broadcast network, with Group D teams Nigeria and Iceland battling. Iceland, one of the surprise Davids in a tournament of Goliaths, managed a tie in its first game against the powerful Argentina (pictured), and hopes to
