Among the many interviews David conducted for his look at the evolution of TV’s Platinum Age, he talked with another David, Larry, about the genre of “Splitcoms” — situation comedies like Seinfeld that are set half in the lead character’s home... But before all that, he was cast in the 1980-82 ABC late-night comedy series Fridays. One recurring bit, a character named Solly Mullins, was a temp worker who showed up to all sorts of preposterous gigs, like standing in for John Lennon who does not show up for a world-wide Beatles reunion...

If your main thought about the atomic bomb is that you’re just glad no one ever detonated one in America, you should maybe think again...

Tiger Woods started the Saturday round at his comeback tournament in brilliant fashion: four birdies in five holes, putting himself within two shots of the lead. But from then on, his shots got a bit more fatigued and erratic, while Hideki Matsuyama kept playing the sort of amazing golf he’s been playing the past few months.Matsuyama finished yesterday seven strokes ahead of the rest of the field, while Woods was 11 strokes behind. But it’s still a tournament worth watching, both to

Each week this season, we’ve bounced between various outposts and settings, and characters, as we follow the story of the various communities under the iron hand of the Saviors. Tonight, we’re back in Savior land, which means a lot more screen time for Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan. And more time for Chandler Riggs as Carl as well, though the two characters don't exactly see eye to eye...

SEASON FINALE: This is the season finale of Westworld, so for those who have followed this series, it’s a must-see episode. Just don’t expect too many solid answers, because a season finale, usually, is the time to dole out some long-simmering, intriguing questions.

TCM is presenting a small batch of biblical stories tonight, beginning at 8 p.m. ET with 1951’s David and Bathsheba, starring Gregory Peck and Susan Hayward, and continuing at 10:15 pm. ET with 1959’s Solomon and Sheba, starring Yul Brynner and Gina Lollobrigida.  But the real rarity is a late-night showing, at 12:45 a.m. ET, of Cecil B. DeMille’s 1927 silent epic King of Kings, starring H.B. Warner as Jesus (pictured), Dorothy Cumming as Mother Mary, and Jacqueline Logan

This tiny little golf tournament in Bermuda isn’t all about Tiger Woods – except, this weekend, it is, basically. On Thursday, he made a return to competitive golf with a 1-over-par round that was uneven yet promising, certainly encouraging after his coming off surgery and a lengthy layoff. Then came yesterday’s second round, where he nailed seven birdies, avoided bogeys entirely, and finished with a 7-under-par 65. Woods is now five back from the leaders, and on the second pag

And it’s a wonderful movie, made fully 70 years ago this year. Frank Capra’s 1946 holiday fantasy, released the year after WWII ended, is an ultimately hopeful tale about the impact of one seemingly ordinary man on the lives of those around him. James Stewart stars as George Bailey, with Henry Travers as Clarence, the apprentice angel charged with showing George what life in his small town would have been like without him. For Donna Reed’s Mary Hatch, George’s wife, it wo

This 2015 Western, written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, is a wonderful entry in the genre – a character study with twists, turns, meaty monologues and sizzling set pieces. A bounty hunter seeks shelter from a harsh winter storm in a Wyoming cabin filled with nefarious characters, each of whom has a story, a secret, and an attitude. Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Walton Goggins and Demian Bichir are great, but Jennifer Jason Leigh, as the only woman in this wild bunch, is even great
