The Muppets are coming! The Muppets are coming! ABC made other announcements about its new fall schedule – but nothing else got me psyched like the return of Kermit and company…

Last fall, Fox’s only successful new series was Gotham, which explains why the network is aggressively targeting young demos and genre fans next season. But for fall, the shows look quite promising…

SEASON FINALE: Last week, this series overtly mentioned what Tony Stark did in creating Ultron, nearly destroying the planet as the run-amok metallic behemoth did in the currently running Avengers: Age of Ultron movie. This week, the focus in this two-hour finale is on which side Skye will choose in another powerful rising threat, which pits the survivors of S.H.I.E.L.D. On tonight’s live installment, the Top 3 singers (Clark Beckham, Jax, and Nick Fradiani) are pared down to the Top 2 finalists – one of whom, tomorrow night, will become the penultimate American Idol. Tonight’s guest on The Daily Show is Tom Brokaw, who just hosted a touching prime-time Dateline NBC look at his own battle with cancer – which also is the topic of his latest book. But Stewart might take the time to ask Brokaw about another NBC anchor who, like Brokaw, has been a frequent Daily Show guest over the years: Brian Williams. We’ll see.

After a handful of new programs, David Letterman’s Late Show will be over, and his final shows are crammed full of favorite guests as a result. Tonight, the scheduled lineup is so incongruous, you could make an entire, entertaining show just by broadcasting from a hidden camera in the green room: Dave’s guests are President Bill Clinton – and Adam Sandler.
