This U2 concert, like its simultaneous live HBO telecast, was scheduled for mid-November, but canceled in the wake of the Paris terrorist attacks. Bono and the rest of his band wanted to make a statement by carrying on at the first opportunity, though, so tonight, live from Paris, the show will go on. And the defiant and loving and supportive spirit of this show, doubtlessly, will make it a very memorable telecast indeed. The rumored special guests for tonight include Eagles of Death Metal, the

SNEAK PREVIEW: Two episodes of this new Eva Longoria series, in which she plays a telenovela star who can’t speak Spanish, are previewed tonight on NBC. They’re much better than last week’s double-feature sneak preview of Superstore, which wasted the talents of America Ferrera, and the time of anyone watching. Telenovela isn’t a great comedy, but it focuses on a subject ripe for parody – maybe over overripe – and Longoria has enough fun to carry the day, and t

Week by week, scene by scene, character by character, and death by death, this season’s rebooted Fargo has managed to eclipse even last season’s entertainment level. As we approach year’s end, and also get closer to the finale of this year’s Fargo narrative, this show has emerged as one of television’s very best current series. If you’re watching, enjoy. If you’re behind, catch up.

It’s always a risk to have Frank Sinatra’s music sung by someon else, but fragmentary indications suggest that Sunday night’s "Sinatra 100: An All-Star Grammy Salute" on CBS should remind us why he earned this kind of celebration...

In 70 years as a television network, NBC has never had a prime-time series with an all-Hispanic cast. That changes on Monday, Dec. 7th, with the “sneak preview” of Eva Longoria’s Telenovela.

Mel Brooks, a favorite here at TVWW, used his clout from the success of his original movie comedy The Producers, starring Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder, to direct his pet project, this 1970 comedy based on a story by his favorite comic Russian writers, Ilya Ilf and Yevgeny Petrov. And the fact that Brooks, at that early stage of his career, had favorite comic Russian writers, says a lot about Brooks. Ron Moody and Frank Langella star in this story of a fortune in jewels supposedly sewn into the cu

Celebrating what would have been Frank Sinatra’s 100th birthday (a few days early, but why quibble?), this CBS concert, taped in Las Vegas, has a mixture of veteran and current performers working their way through the Sinatra songbook. Usher sings “That’s Life.” Harry Connick Jr. glides through “Luck Be a Lady.” Sam Smith nails the high notes on “My Funny Valentine.” Celine Dion sings “All the Way,” Tony Bennett sings “I’ve

SEASON FINALE: There are plans afoot for the fourth anniversary of the Sudden Departure, in and around the town now referred to as Miracle. One miracle already has occurred, though: This series, by venturing past the original source novel into uncharted directions and plot lines, has gotten much more interesting.

Rupert Friend’s Peter Quinn may or may not have breathed his last at the end of last week’s episode – this season, there’s a lot of that going around. But with only a few episodes to go before the season finale, surprises may indeed be due.
