Television is the new television, except when it isn’t. We’re watching more television than we ever were. Nobody watches television anymore. The DVR killed TV ads as a business model...

As someone who writes about television, I have to admit I wouldn’t have guessed that the hot-buzz TV ticket for fall would be the Republican presidential primary debates...

It’s Game 4 in the ALCS – the second game played in Toronto, with the Blue Jays trying to fight back from a deficit against the Kansas City Royals, using home-field advantage as… an advantage. So far, the Blue Jays are fighting hard (pictured) – just not necessarily when it counts.

This new Fox comedy, in particular, has delivered on its early promise, and evolved quickly into a very clever and enjoyable new comedy. Rob Lowe seems to get more fun out of his recycled “Grinder” dialogue and legal strategies every week – and Fred Savage, as his persistently frustrated and competitive sibling, is fast building his role into half of one of the best character-driven comedy teams around. If you haven’t sampled The Grinder yet, please do. It’s super-a

Under controlled conditions, Liv (Rose McIver) has eaten a lot of brains on this show to keep her zombie instincts at bay – and each time she does so, she temporarily absorbs a bit of the personality and knowledge of the brain-food donor. Tonight, she samples one of the most delicious plot devices yet: the brains of a Real Housewives-style trophy wife. They may be thin and airy, but they do give Liv a highly developed fashion sense – and attitude. What fun: Slowly but surely, iZombie

Tonight’s program is a repeat, from week two of Colbert’s tenure on Late Show, that’s well worth revisiting. Carol Burnett and Kevin Spacey are the guests – and what Carol doesn’t know is that her fellow guest is going to crash her segment to surprise her with a celebrity impersonation – and a poem in her honor. For my interview with Carol Burnett and Kevin Spacey about how this came about, and their response to it afterward, see Bianculli’s Blog.

“The bad guys in this town are changing,” Jim Gordon says in tonight’s episode. Ironically, he’s saying it to the guy who, unknown to Gordon, is the biggest new villain of them all. And tonight, that bad guy, Galavan (James Frain), keeps rising in Gotham City politics – while killing and manipulating every step of the way.

If you found, and stayed with, last week’s series premiere, you’ve already seen one of the fall’s best new series. If you didn’t, dive in tonight anyway, whether or not you catch up on streaming video. Last week, Rebecca (Rachel Bloom) moved to West Covina, CA to chase down an old boyfriend, only to discover, despite his Facebook status, that he has a girlfriend. Tonight, Rebecca meets that girlfriend. The encounter isn’t exactly music to Rebecca’s ears &ndash

Tonight is Game 3 in the Kansas City Royals vs. Toronto Blue Jays ALCS. The Royals, with home-field advantage, won the first two games in this American League Championship Series. But tonight, the contest takes place on another field, in another city, in another country. It’s played at the Rogers Centre, and the spelling of “Centre” is a hint that the game is being played in Toronto.
