This dance competition series gets into the tough Top 10 phase – and to make it even tougher, the contestants will be paired from All-Star dancers from previous seasons. For the returning dancers, it’s another few minutes of TV time. For two of the current contestants, it’ll be the proverbial “Last Dance.”

Tonight’s guest star is Lisa Leslie of the WNBA, who scores points, at least, for not being a star from the CW being cross-promoted by the network. And watch what happens when she’s serenaded by Wayne Brady: She tosses off a derisive little joke in Brady’s direction, and he slam-dunks it right back at her.

In 1974, Francis Ford Coppola put the weight of his behemoth gangster hit onto Robert De Niro, asking him to play, in essence, a young Marlon Brando from the original Godfather. He did great – and so did Al Pacino, whose metamorphosis from the start of the first film to the conclusion of this one is like the path Walter White is traversing on Breaking Bad.

Linda Ellerbee, for decades, has been turning out clear, crisp, important television on an endless array of topics – sometimes for adults, and, for quite a long time now, for kids. That doesn’t mean she and her producers (in this case, Martin Toub) pander or simplify. Take tonight’s new Nick News special, for example: It interviews kids who have lived through periods when their parents were physically abusing one another. Sometimes, and this is one of those times, just broachin

I can recommend this 1989 romantic comedy, starring Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan as long-time friends who begin to look at each other a little differently, very highly. Having finally made it to Katz’s Deli, where the most famous scene in this movie was filmed (“I’ll have what she’s having”), I can recommend that experience as well. Especially the pastrami…

Country Music Association artists gathered in Nashville earlier this summer to perform at a four-day festival, and tonight ABC presents a three-hour compendium of that event, with heavy emphasis on the many musical performances. Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley (pictured)  take the stage together, and other artists stepping up to the microphone include Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift, Charlie Daniels, Keith Urban, Lenny Kravitz and others. Little Big Town hosts.

AMC kicks off gangster week with the best gangster movie ever made – Francis Coppola’s 1972 Oscar-winning adaptation of the Mario Puzo novel. It’s one of the most influential films of the 20th century, especially in its genre. Marlon Brando, Al Pacino and James Caan star.

This 1998 satanic cop thriller, starring Denzel Washington, isn’t that great a movie, really, but it’s worth seeing to catch its pre-Sopranos supporting appearance by James Gandolfini. Also co-starring: Donald Sutherland and John Goodman.
