Villanelle (Jodie Comer), in this second season, has kept up her impressive and frightening quota of one new victim per episode – but at least last week’s victim was one she was assigned to dispatch. And tonight, in this week’s new episode, Villanelle is off to the kinky clubs of Amsterdam – and wearing what is an extremely unusual outfit, even by her own less than mainstream standards.

At the end of last week’s episode, the barbarians were at the gates. Or, at least, even more scarily, the Night King was about to attack. The episode did a riveting job setting up the conflict, and providing set-piece emotional moments to many major characters. And now, after all that, the battle begins.

The changing relationship between Axe and his former protégé Taylor continues to evolve and escalate. So, for that matter, does the relationship between Chuck and his wife Wendy. And the relationship between Wendy and Taylor is changing, too – and Wendy and Axe, and Chuck and Chuck’s father, and Taylor and Taylor’s father. Face it. Nothing on Billions is stable right now, financially, politically, or emotionally.

I thought the episode two week ago ended with a stunner of a cliffhanger, with Barry encountering his girlfriend’s abusive ex-boyfriend. Then I saw last week’s cliffhanger, which was even more of a stunner… and had Barry getting a new contract for a killing for hire, and this time from a very unexpected, game- changing source.

Just like Selina Meyer, Veep has vaulted into the stratosphere of late. This show is funnier then ever, and perhaps even smarter as well, as it gears up for yet another presidential campaign. Tonight’s episode is called “Super Tuesday,” so expect yet another Super episode.

I’ve tried really hard to avoid most breaking news this week, especially on the political front. It’s been an experiment, while I was busy with school and other stuff, just to give myself an emotional and current-event break., Tonight’s review of the news by John Oliver, therefore, will be especially informative for me this week. I just hope it makes me laugh anyway.

Widescreen. Uncut. Uninterrupted. This 1968 Stanley Kubrick movie was dazzling to watch more than 50 years ago – and seen under these conditions, presented in respectful form by TCM, it still is. “Look, Dave, I can see you’re really upset about this…”
