All the hoo-hah about Hatfields & McCoys got me thinking about Pass the Biscuits, Mirandy. History Channel’s hit miniseries may well be the most accurate take on the notorious rivalry, but Mirandy is surely the funniest...

BBC America's Sunday lineup is filled with royal-themed programming, all to kick-off the summer celebration of Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee. But the real highlight is the three-part documentary The Diamond Queen, which chronicles the Queen's life and 60-year rule with archive photographs, newsreels and other historical material. As a truly special treat, it also features footage of the monarchy's only other Diamond Jubilee — that of Queen Victoria in 1897.

SEASON FINALE: Game of Thrones ended season one by lopping off the head of a favorite character and letting viewers know anything might happen next. All this season, that promise has been fulfilled — increasingly so in these final episodes, as the conflicts between territorial rulers became more numerous and unavoidable. Last week's episode was about the women and their quest for power, which you can read more about in my Bianculli's Blog. This week's episode looks to be about the men and their chances of losing power. Beyond that, I'm powerless to describe it.

On this day in 1981, ABC aired one of the most remembered — or, perhaps, most misremembered — episodes of The Barbara Walters Special. The telecast featured interviews with Lauren Bacall, Nancy Reagan, and Katherine Hepburn. It was during Walter's sit-down with Hepburn, on the set of Broadway's The West Side Waltz, when Hepburn said: "I'm a very strong, I've become a sort of, you know, thing," says Hepburn...

Ellen Burstyn won an Oscar for her portrayal of a widow, who, in search of a new beginning, hits the road with her pre-teen son and ends up working in an Arizona diner. The film inspired the 1976 sitcom, Alice. Actor Vic Tayback played the diner's owner, Mel, in both the film and TV series. In the film, actress Diane Ladd played Flo, the role famously played on TV by Polly Holliday. Ladd later joined the CBS series as waitress Belle Dupree.

This story, in two parts, features several of Tarantino's basic film ingredients coming together in one place: a B-grade martial arts story, noir-meets-comic book dialog and a worthy female adversary (namely the fearless Uma Thurman, in a yellow track suit). The Kill Bill films also helped to revive the career of David Carradine, much like Pulp Fiction brought back John Travolta. As a filmmaker, Tarantino is like an abstract painter swinging a wild brush — or in this case, a Samurai's
