Yes, children, it's Christmas, and time once again to gather 'round the flat panel display and join in the holiday cheer as privileged hipsters receive luxury cars as surprise presents... this year's version of the decade-long series of Lexus holiday commercials that feature the lucky, the well-to-do and the model-beautiful as they get what naturally comes to them -- high-end automobiles decorated with over-sized bows...

At this time of year, we're surrounded by music, images and stories of the holidays -- but not necessarily the best ones. So here at TV WORTH WATCHING, as accompaniment or to complement the days ahead, we have the latest recommendations. TVWW managing editor Diane Werts has the very latest on televised holiday movies and TV episodes. On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me... a partridge. In a pear tree. Really. This was a few years back, when we were still courting. But I'm reminded of her generosity and creativity every year about this time...

Those of us who've been too busy to shop (ahem), or too undecided about gifts (ahem, ahem), or just too foot-draggy (oops), have one last shot at some really cool DVD treats for the holiday...

Today (Tuesday, Dec. 20) on NPR's Fresh Air with Terry Gross, I once again get to enjoy one of my favorite annual holiday rituals: talking TV with Terry. We cover the Top 10 shows on TV, of course -- but also, in a conversation spanning everything from politics to Snooki, we cover a lot of other ground as well. Including my favorite moment, as Terry listens in amused disbelief as I provide aural proof of what I consider the worst TV show of 2011...

1960s, before starring with brother Tommy on CBS's The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, Dick Smothers sang and danced as Tweedledee, to his sibling's Tweedledum, in a 1966 TV musical called Through the Looking Glass. Later in the Sixties, Dick competed in automobile races, driving Formula B race cars. And five decades later, Dick Smothers is still dancing, and still driving, but in different directions...
