What a month it’s been for Valerie Harper. Despite her grim medical diagnosis, she’s been making the rounds and stepping back into the spotlight in a very visible way. First she guest-starred on an episode of TV Land’s Hot in Cleveland, along with Mary Tyler Moore, Betty White and Georgia Engel, all of them beloved veterans of The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Then, earlier this week, she made her emotional debut as one of the contestants on this latest round of ABC’s Dancing wi

Like father, like daughter. Former President Bill Clinton has visited Jon Stewart many times on The Daily Show to discuss his pet projects and joke around a bit with this show’s host – and tonight, his daughter, Chelsea Clinton, does the same.

This 2012 movie is bookended by segments that struck some as controversial – the aggressive interrogation of a prisoner at the start, and the invasion of Osama bin Laden’s compound at the climax. But those scenes, and every one in between, propel this decade-long detective story forward, without any false beats or pandering over-explaining. Jessica Chastain stars, and is excellent – but she’s working with an excellent director (Kathryn Bigelow), from a script by a very sm

SEASON PREMIERE: This is the 27th go-round for Survivor, and I have to admit, my passion for this show faded quickly, and completely, somewhere around Round 20. Even the variations no longer seem that varied. And this time, with a gimmick pitting 10 returning players against their loved ones, turning in to Survivor seems more like déjà viewing than ever. Oh, look, there’s Rupert… again. But if you're still into it, here it is.

SEASON FINALE: This is Season 8 for this competition series, and I have to admit, my passion for this show faded quickly, and completely, somewhere around Round 1. But I’m such a Beatles freak, I’ll go ahead, in this crowning of the fall 2013 winner, and root for Cami Bradley, who performed a slowed-down, built-up version of “I Want to Hold Your Hand.”

Alec (David Tennant) is very ill, it’s revealed, but that won’t stop his investigation. And in this seventh episode, that investigation is beginning to move along nicely, even if Alec himself has to spend time in a hospital bed.

We’re getting near the end of The Bridge. Tonight is Episode 11, which has the ominous title of “Take the Ride, Pay the Toll.” And it indeed does take us back to that bridge, where the discoveries of the two half-bodies started this international murder investigation in the first place. And for Marco (Demian Bachir), thos particular hunt couldn’t get more personal – or more agonizing.

Part of TCM’s special lineup tied to its Story of Film documentary series, tonight’s prime-time early cinematic offerings from around the world begin with a very rare telecast of this 1923 silent French film by Abel Gance, who later directed the sprawling masterpiece Napoleon. This movie is sprawling, too: Originally, it was eight hours long, more like a pre-television miniseries. Here, it’s pared down to about half that, but includes many of the same visual innovations and ima
