This 1991 miniseries is shown in one prime-time clump tonight, and it’s worth it for its haunting lead performances by Sheryl Lee (pictured), Clancy Brown and Moira Kelly. It’s based on a true story, but goes for psychological suspense more than continual confrontation – and it works.

SEASON FINALE: This funny series bows out for the year with a double feature of new episodes. In the first, Burt (Garret Dillahunt) embraces Judaism. In the second, Maw Maw (Cloris Leachman) meets her long-absent, 104-year-old mother. I know she’s also played by Leachman (pictured, as Maw Maw's ma) – but what I don’t know is whether she’s named Maw Maw Maw.

Some of our favorite recent series feature sly, male impostors. So perhaps it's time for a female to step into those anti-hero shoes...

With its two new judges this week, NBC's The Voice came back with a vengeance - higher ratings, and enough instant chemistry to make the blind audition rounds as much fun as before. Meanwhile, on American Idol, the lack of chemistry among the judges, old and new, has torpedoed this show's momentum, and the show itself, on a weekly basis. This year, Idol has finalist Candice Glover and a few other sparkling talents - but that's it.

This 2001 Coen brothers film may not be as high-profile as some of their others, but this black-and-white grim character study is a fascinating study in tone. Billy Bob Thornton plays a guy who walks through life depressed, and with good reason. There are plenty of good reasons to watch this movie, too, starting with its supporting cast, which includes Frances McDormand, James Gandolfini, Richard Jenkins, Tony Shalhoub – and, in an early, impressive role, Scarlett Johansson.

On February 15, 2013, an asteroid crashed into the earth’s atmosphere, raining unexpected light and matter over the Ural Mountains in Russia and sparking all sorts of questions. For example, what’s the difference between meteors, meteoroids and meteorites again? This new Nova, coming to TV only six weeks after the Siberian event, answer those questions, and a lot more. Check local listings.

This is the 100th episode of this series – and to celebrate, they’re mounting a playful salute to Clue the board game – and Clue the movie, since it features such stars from that film as Lesley Ann Warren, Christopher Lloyd and Martin Mull. Had that been a better film, this would seem like a more inspired idea, but I’m willing to give it a chance.
