THE LITTLE DRUMMER GIRL
November 19, 2018  | By David Bianculli

AMC, 9:00 p.m. ET

MINISERIES PREMIERE: It takes a long time for this new miniseries to get going. In fact, tonight’s two-hour block of this adaptation of the John Le Carre novel takes that long just to set the spy drama’s primary plot in action. But it’s worth it. And The Little Drummer Girl, which continues Tuesday and concludes Wednesday, ends up being well worth your time, and memorably suspenseful. Florence Pugh stars as a British actress recruited by some Israeli spies (Alexander Skarsgard, Michael Shannon) to infiltrate a Palestinian terrorist cell – and her loyalties, motivations and reactions can never be taken for granted.
