DEAN MARTIN TRIBUTE
September 26, 2018  | By David Bianculli

TCM, 8:00 p.m. ET

Dean Martin month (at least on Wednesdays) concludes with a batch of his most Sixties-reflective spy spoofs, with him playing the suave, playful Matt Helm. The evening begins at 8 p.m. ET with 1966’s The Silencers, and Martin’s female co-stars in his Helm movies are just as noteworthy, and eye-catching, as the so-called Bond girls in the 007 series. In The Silencers, Martin’s co-stars include Stella Stevens, Daliah Lavi, Nancy Kovack and Cyd Charisse.  At 10 p.m. ET, it’s another Matt Helm spy film from that same year, perhaps the most famous of them all: Murderers’ Row, co-starring Ann-Margret. At midnight ET, it’s a Helm film from 1967: The Ambushers, co-starring Senta Berger, Janice Rule, and Beverly Adams. And finally, at 2 a.m. ET, TCM may have saved the best for last: 1969’s The Wrecking Crew, which features Elke Sommer, Sharon Tate (pictured), Nancy Kwan, and Tina Louise.
