AGNES MOOREHEAD TRIBUTE
August 27, 2018  | By David Bianculli

TCM, 6:00 a.m. ET

The first TV generation knew her primarily as Endora, Samantha’s witchly mother on the ABC Sixties sitcom Bewitched. But Agnes Moorehead had quite a career before that, in TV (a silent role in one of my favorite episodes of The Twilight Zone) and in the movies. Tonight at midnight ET, for example, you can see her in a low-budget horror classic, 1964’s Hush… Hush, Sweet Charlotte. And earlier, you can see her in not one, but two, of Orson Welles’ cinematic masterpieces. At 4:30 p.m. ET, she’s part of the mix of 1941’s Citizen Kane. And at 8 p.m. ET, to lead off prime time, she’s on view in Welles’ 1942 follow-up film, The Magnificent Ambersons (pictured). And all day and night, there’s more Moorehead on TCM.
