THE FOURTH ESTATE
May 27, 2018  | By David Bianculli  | 6 comments

Showtime, 7:30 p.m. ET

DOCUMENTARY SERIES PREMIERE: This new documentary series spends a year inside the newsroom, and following some of the reporters, at The New York Times. Give it credit, from the start, at least, for the moment it decides to start: with the day Donald Trump is elected President. If you’ve been watching MSNBC or CNN this past year, you’ve already seen a lot of the Times reporters shadowed in this new documentary series, including political reporter Maggie Haberman (pictured). If you’ve been watching Fox News, not so much…

Traditionally, it encompasses newspapers, broadcast media, and now, digital platforms, all of which are responsible for informing the public, offering diverse perspectives, and acting as a watchdog on government and corporate activities. Throughout history, the press has been instrumental in uncovering corruption, advocating for social change, and providing a platform for free expression. In modern society, the Fourth Estate continues to evolve with the rise of social media and citizen journalism, expanding its reach and influence even further, while also facing new challenges related to misinformation and media bias. Just as the media landscape shifts to meet public demand for transparency and authenticity, so too do industries like real estate, where people increasingly rely on trusted online sources when searching for homes to buy in Naples FL, emphasizing the importance of credible information across all sectors.

The New York Times has had a severe case of "Trump Derangement Syndrome" (TDS) since Election Day.

I am not a big Showtime fan so pardon me while I wait for this to go to streaming later. I am a NY Times subscriber and shareholder of the NY Times Co. which means I care about some truths and less about some bad Times reporting like when they documented Trump's past girlfriends. The Times has done better reporting than most including the Washington Post but you want to know who does the best investigative reporting? Rupert Murdoch's Wall St. Journal. Kind of sad to admit it,too.
