MARLENE DIETRICH CELEBRATION
May 24, 2018  | By David Bianculli

TCM, 8:00 p.m. ET

Thursday nights on TCM this month belong to Marlene Dietrich, and tonight’s lineup is full of her later-career curiosities, including, at 10:15 p.m. ET, her unlikely turn as a saloon singer in a 1942 Western opposite John Wayne. But the one to make a special effort to catch arrives at midnight ET, when TCM presents her 1944 star turn in Kismet, in which she performs one provocative dance number adorned in very leggy, very striking gold body paint. Take that, Goldfinger!
