SEASON FINALE: It’s been a long time since Modern Family showed up to reenergize the family sitcom genre. Give it props, though, for longevity as well as quality, because tonight’s episode marks the Season 9 finale. And for the first five seasons in that run, it won the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series – beating, along the way, such competitors as HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm and Girls, NBC’s The Office and 30 Rock, and FX’s Louie.
