SNEAK PREVIEW: This series will launch in full after NBC’s Olympics coverage, but the network is offering a sneak peek tonight of this new series from Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video company, and in particular from produer Seth Meyers. Glenn Howerton plays a Harvard philosophy professor who fails to get tenure, loses his job, and ends up moving back into his late mother’s home in Ohio, where he’s assigned to teach an Advanced Placement high school biology course. Instead, he treats the students as his private army, declaring war on the professor who outmaneuvered him for the Harvard job. Patton Oswalt co-stars as the hapless high school principal, but he’s about as much of an effective authority figure as Sergeant Schultz on Hogan’s Heroes. Howerton has a good swagger, like a more elite Bill Murray from  his early Meatballs days, but the long-term success of this series will depend greatly on the development of the characters of the students. For full reviews, see David Hinckley's All Along the Watchtower and Ed Bark's Uncle Barky's Bytes.
