THE VOICE
October 10, 2017  | By David Bianculli

NBC, 8:00 p.m. ET

This is the final night of the blind auditions, and they’ve been as entertaining and emotional as always. There’s something about watching an aspiring artist reveal, in advance, that his or her dream would be to be teamed with a specific coach – then to watch a performance good enough to get that judge to spin around in the chair. Chloe Kohanski (pictured) did all that last night, trying to hook Miley Cyrus by singing “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac – and succeeding. Sometimes, the singers pull surprises by selecting other judges instead. Other times, no judge turns around. Regardless, family members and loved ones are just offstage, crying… and the whole thing works. This reality competition show earns its Emmys, and deserves its audience.
