ARCHER

SEASON PREMIERE: At the end of Season 7, Archer (H. Jon Benjamin) didn’t look well. He was lying in a pool, fully clothed, bleeding to what looked like certain death. But Season 8 picks up a few months later, and Archer isn’t dead yet. Just comatose – and in his coma, he’s reimagined himself as a film noir gumshoe, with all the people he knows playing roles in his new imagined universe, fittingly called “Dreamland.” Think of it an a cartoon Singing Detective, but without the music. This reboot – not the first time Archer has reinvented its setting and characters, by the way – suits the show, and its droll and sexy sense of humor, very well. And Judy Greer, switching from the role of Cheryl to that of a steamy femme fatale, has way too much fun, even vocally. For a full review, see David Hinckley's All Along the Watchtower.
