TCM, 12:00 a.m. ET

This isn’t the current CMT series. It’s the 1975 movie – another Robert Altman film, and one of his very best. The music is wonderful. The performances – by Lily Tomlin, Karen Black, Keith Carradine, Henry Gibson, Renee Blakley and others – are exceptional. Altman’s direction is inspired. And the story, as it delves into the political arena, might be even more disturbing today than it was when this film was released four decades ago.

I'm about a half hour into the movie, and not impressed so far.
