IRON CHEF AMERICA
June 13, 2012  | By David Bianculli

Cooking Channel, 8:00 p.m. ET

Tonight’s program is part of a purely unintentional same-night doubleheader featuring the First Lady on rival cable cooking and restaurant shows. On this series tonight, in an installment from 2010, the secret ingredient is unveiled by special guest Michelle Obama – and the secret ingredient is everything that’s grown in the White House garden. Then, at 10 p.m. ET on a new edition of Food Network’s Restaurant: Impossible (pictured), Robert Irvine takes on a charity dear to the First Lady’s heart. He and his team work to remake Horton’s Kids, an organization providing after-school meals to disadvantaged kids in the Anacostia neighborhood of Washington, D.C.  And Michelle Obama is here, too, offering support as a dining room and new kitchen and garden are built at all deliberate speed.
