I just rewatched this Brian de Palma mystery recently – and while it’s almost operatically overdone in parts, it’s also impressively, audaciously stylized, with one or two long cinematic set pieces that make this 1980 murder mystery worth a revisit. Angie Dickinson and Michael Caine star, along with relative youngsters Keith Gordon and Nancy Allen. Standout star? In a supporting role as a jaded detective, Dennis Franz (seen at left) – pre-Hill Street Blues.
