ST. PATRICK'S DAY: What, no Irish TV?
March 17, 2011  | By Diane Werts

bing-crosby-irish-eyes.jpgWhy, you're absolutely right. We havekind of ignored St. Patrick's Day here at TVWW. So here's a little green for ye.

Thursday night's viewing options do include a few Irish-themed offerings. Among them:

When Irish Eyes Are Smiling (Thursday 10-11:30 p.m. ET on WNET/13; check listings for other public TV stations) - Vintage Irish songs from movies and TV with stars including Bing Crosby, Rosemary Clooney, the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem.

Saint Patrick and Irish in America (Thursday at 8 and 9-11 p.m. ET, repeats midnight and 1-3 a.m. ET, History International) - A profile of the patron saint and a look back at the impact of Irish immigration on our country from the 1600s on.

Bobby's Ireland (Thursday at 9 p.m. and midnight ET, Food) - Bobby Flay takes a food tour of Ireland.

The Luck of the Irish (Thursday at 8 p.m. ET, Disney) - A part-leprechaun teen (Ryan Merriman) gets into whatever improbable adventures befall part-leprechaun teens, in this 2001 TV movie.

Touched by an Angel (Thursday 8-11 p.m. ET, Hallmark) - Roma Downey brings her Irish lilt along with the grace of God to those who need it most.

And if that's not enough, QVC spends the day selling all the Irish stuff you'd ever need . . .
