It's True Love, Welcoming Back HBO's "True Blood"
June 9, 2010  | By David Bianculli

true-blood-top.jpgThe third season of HBO's True Blood begins Sunday (9 p.m. ET), picking up right where last year's season ended -- and man, is it a joy to have back...

I reviewed the new season of Alan Ball's clever, funny and very sexy vampire series on Wednesday's edition of NPR's Fresh Air with Terry Gross. You can read -- or hear -- the report by clicking HERE, which will take you to my review on NPR's website.

By the way -- the teacher of vampire literature and pop culture I mentioned, but didn't identify, at the start of the story? He's Mark Dawidziak, TV critic for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, and an adjunct faculty member at Kent State University. Thanks for the inspiration, Mark. And for arranging the lunch at Primo's in Akron...

I was really fascinated by your piece. I love the show & have to wait for most of the year to go by before I can see Trueblood Because I can't get cable or afford a dish where I live. I buy the DVD set of the show as soon as it comes out. I've read all of the books, too. I'm always looking for something quirky & well done. This show certainly fit the bill. I like it even though they don't stick really close to the original plot line. That keeps me guessing.
I thought that you did a great job reviewing the show as well as the 1st scene, giving me a quick peek ahead.
Thanks!
[My pleasure! Thanks right back. -- David B.]
