THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE
January 18, 2012  | By David Bianculli

TCM, 10:00 p.m. ET

This 1962 thriller would be worth watching at any time, on its own. But after a taut first season of Showtime’s Homeland, in which Damian Lewis played an American POW returning to the United States after having been influenced – perhaps even brainwashed – by the enemy, fans of that series should consider this move required viewing. This is the original article, not the recent remake, and stars Laurence Harvey, Frank Sinatra and Angela Lansbury.
