The PBS series American Masters takes a look at the life and times of poet, journalist and activist Carl Sandburg on Monday, September 24, (Check local listings.) Sandburg was a populist 20th century voice and a writer who was grounded in the changing social consciousness and politics of the day. The documentary looks at the significance and effects of his work, which gained three Pulitzer Prizes.
