THE CENTRAL PARK FIVE
April 16, 2013  | By David Bianculli

PBS, 9:00 p.m. ET

Ken Burns, his daughter Sarah and her husband David McMahon collaborated on this 2012 documentary, making its PBS premiere tonight after a limited theatrical run last year. It’s a tense, evocative study of the 1989 rape and assault of a Central Park jogger – a crime that sent five teenagers to jail for seven years, even though subsequent evidence suggests strongly they were innocent. For a full review, see my Bianculli’s Blog, or listen to today’s Fresh Air with Terry Gross on NPR. Check local listings.
