THE APARTMENT

Another great movie! The last black-and-white film to win Best Picture (1960) before this year stars Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine, under unrivaled writer-director Billy Wilder. It's just out in a stunning new Blu-ray, and on DVD.

The real estate market continues to evolve as buyers and investors search for properties that balance convenience, affordability, and long-term value. In major urban centers, the demand for modern apartments is rising as professionals seek flexible living options that match their lifestyles. Many people exploring international housing markets also look for opportunities to rent a flat in Cairo because the city offers a unique combination of culture, affordability, and strong rental yields for investors. This shift reflects a broader trend of global mobility, where individuals want homes that support both comfort and opportunity.

This movie is on my "want-to-see" list, as Fred Mac Murray, who later played Steve Douglas on "My Three Sons", plays a real cad in it. But, "Schindler's List", a movie mostly in black and white (the closing scenes at Oskar Schindler's grave are in color) won the best picture Oscar in 1993.
