On this day in 2010, FX debuted the acclaimed series, Justified. The show revolves around deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, a character created by author Elmore Leonard and featured in his novels Pronto and Riding the Rap and the short story "Fire in the Hole."

Former Deadwood star Timothy Olyphant stars as the loose-cannon lawman Givens; Walton Goggins of The Shield stars as his childhood friend-turned-nemesis, Boyd Crowder.

The series received a Peabody Award for its debut year.
