February 12, 2021  | By TV WW  | 1 comment

On this day in 1978, NBC debuted the three-part miniseries, King, which chronicled the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The telecast marked the 10th anniversary of King's assassination.

Written and directed by Abby Mann, who wrote "Judgment at Nuremberg" for Playhouse 90,  the miniseries starred Paul Winfield as King; Cicely Tyson as his wife, Coretta; and Ossie Davis as King’s father.
