1958: 'Jefferson Drum' First Airs on NBC

On this day in 1958, NBC launched the western, Jefferson Drum. The series starred baseball-player-turned-actor Jeff Richards as a frontier newspaper editor who used his publishing platform to address issues in his 1850s mining town, but was an equally skilled gunslinger when the situation warranted.

The series was co-written by future Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry.

Jefferson Drum – western TV show. This series starred Jeff Richards, Eugene Mazzola, Cyril Delevanti. This western television show originally aired in 1958 and 1959. A lot of westerns premiered in 1958 and 1959. This series show has 26 half hour episodes. WESTERNS TV COULD NOT FIND EVEN AN INTRO OR THEME SONG VIDEO OF THIS RARELY SHOWN WESTERN TV SERIES.
