1981: Tom Snyder interviews Charles Manson
June 13, 2020  | By TV WW  | 2 comments

Just after the east coast transitioned from June 12 to June 13, NBC's Tomorrow Coast to Coast broadcast one of the most famous interviews of series host Tom Snyder's career: his sitdown with Charles Manson.

Manson was sentenced to life in prison for his involvement in the 1969 murders of nine people, including actress Sharon Tate. The interview took place at the California Medical Facility in Vacaville.

During his stint with Tomorrow, Snyder scored several notable sit-downs, including U2's first American television appearance and John Lennon's final television interview.

In my opinion ,Tom Snyder tried leading Charles into that whole negative , mass murdering , " hippy " cult leader that the media portrayed of Charles that engrossed the publics perception of him . R.I.P Charles Manson

That's because he was those things. Defending Manson shows your lack of knowledge on the matter. Don't R.I.P him here. Control yourself, man.

Tom Snyder does a terrible job in my opinion. I'm much more interested in what Manson had to say than the narrative that Snyder was trying to feed us. Humans aren't meant for sound bytes. Let the man explain himself.
