1993: HBO Remakes 'Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman'
Today in 1993, HBO premiered its remake of the campy classic Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman, with Daryl Hannah as the title character.
Directed by This Is Spinal Tap's Christopher Guest, the story follows Nancy Archer, who is abducted by a UFO and returns with a condition that makes her grow to an enormous size. Daniel Baldwin plays her philandering husband, Harry, with Cristi Conaway as his lover, Honey. William Windom and Frances Fisher also co-starred.
The original 1958 film starred Allison Hayes, William Parker and Yvette Vicers, and has been emulated in films such as 2009's Monsters vs. Aliens and various TV shows, including Disney Channel's Phineas and Ferb.
