1993: MTV Presents 'The Jon Stewart Show'
October 25, 2012  | By Christy Slewinski

On this day in 1993, MTV introduced the 30-minute talk show, The Jon Stewart Show. The show was an immediate hit for the cable network, second only to its animated series, Beavis and Butt-Head.

In July, 1994, Paramount Domestic Television announced that it was replacing the recently-cancelled Arsenio Hall Show with a one-hour version of The Jon Stewart Show. Stewart made the leap to syndication on Sept. 12, 1994. The show was cancelled nine months later in June, 1999.
