THE WEST WING (THE COMPLETE SERIES)
June 24, 2012  | By David Bianculli

Arguably the last great drama series from broadcast TV before cable stole the momentum and the spotlight, The West Wing definitely was the last great drama of the 20th century: It premiered on NBC in September 1999. Created by Aaron Sorkin, whose new TV drama was just unveiled by HBO, it’s a smart, inspirational look at the inner workings of the White House, populated by an immensely talented ensemble of actors. The first two seasons of this series are TV at its best, but the entire collection is worth watching and owning – especially in this beautifully packaged, well-annotated boxed set. – DB
