ROCKY & BULLWINKLE & FRIENDS: THE COMPLETE SERIES
The packaging on this set is tough on the DVD discs, and it’s annoying that the original opening and closing music and credits are replaced by the ones substituted in the original home-video releases. But hey – there are 18 discs here, presenting, in order, every episode of the 1959 Rocky and Friends series and its 1961 follow-up, The Bullwinkle Show. That makes it worth owning right there. This was the first cartoon series for children that also was for adults, with jokes that could take decades to get (Boris Badenov, a pun on the opera Boris Gunedov?). This was my first favorite can’t-miss TV show, and its various elements – especially Fractured Fairy Tales – still make me laugh out loud. - DB [Click here]
