Old-School Noir Ahead
September 10, 2013  | By Al Mannarino

There are a slew of new vampire shows upcoming (CW's The Originals, for one) to match the success of series like True Blood. So, no surprise that TNT is coming out with a period gangster drama a la Boardwalk Empire, called Mob City, later this year. It might be a visually stunning flop in the style of Starz's recent Magic City, but somehow, we suspect not. Created by Frank Darabont (Director of The Shawshank Redemption and dismissed EP of The Walking Dead), it also stars killed-off TWD actors (well, their characters, anyway) Jon Bernthal and Jeffrey DeMunn as two LAPD detectives trying to rid Los Angeles of its most notorious criminals. The stylish Mob City premieres Dec. 4 on TNT, but for now, check out the first footage – steeped in old-school noir and mayhem. – Al Mannarino
