Actor, comedian and writer James Corden is reportedly getting the nod to replace Craig Ferguson as host of CBS’s The Late Late Show at the end of the year. Corden’s virtually unknown in the U.S. but has a worthy track record with writing and starring in his own UK hit sitcom Gavin and Stacey and winning a Tony on Broadway. Here is a clip from his appearance on the latest season of The Graham Norton Show alongside Paul McCartney where’s he’s asked to improv song lyrics with the Beatles icon. Flummoxed and embarrassed, he’s nevertheless a sport and seems to do well in front of a live audience. We’re thinking it’s a tough job to follow the absurdist heights of Ferguson’s legacy, but Corden ought to give TLLS his own spin. –Eric Gould
