Louie Minus "Louie"
May 15, 2014  | By Eric Gould

Fans of FX’s Louie  might have noticed that creator Louis C.K. has dropped the show's theme "Brother Louie," done by the band Stories in 1973. He’s reportedly done it before, skipping the theme for last year's infamous “Late Show” trilogy, in which he made the cleaning lady cry. C.K. habitually crosses standard TV boundaries, so it’s no stretch to think the opening sequence might have been ditched for some temporary effect. Or maybe it’s gone for good. Either way, here’s Stories' performance on the old NBC Midnight Special series, with Ian Lloyd fronting the signature vocals, which he re-recorded for the perhaps former Louie theme. – Eric Gould
