CONCERT FOR THE QUEEN: A DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATION WITH KATIE COURIC
June 5, 2012  | By David Bianculli

ABC, 9:00 p.m. ET

Packaged as A Special Edition of 20/20, with Katie Couric somehow muscling her way into the title, this two-hour prime-time special is a concert celebrating the 60th anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, who ascended the throne in 1962. She was there for the first Royal Command Performance by the Beatles, when John Lennon cheekily, and famously, asked the people in the cheaper seats to clap, and the others to just rattle their jewelry. And she’ll be in attendance at this concert as well, where Sir Paul McCartney will perform – along with other royalty-anointed pop stars, such as Sir Tom Jones and Sir Elton John.
