This video of Japanese child drum prodigy Yoyoka Soma languished on Youtube since it was posted in January, but finally picked up steam last week after appearing in the Huffington Post. It’s now clocking almost one million hits. Just 8 years old, Yoyoka kills the Led Zepplin’s “Good Times Bad Times” drum part (originally by the late John Bonham) so well, CBC Radio posted a clip of Zeppelin singer Robert Plant reacting to it. He, like us, is all smiles, here. Seems that thundering rock drums – especially Bonham’s – should be free of workplace gender stereotypes. She doesn’t hit like a girl… and has plenty of cowbell. –Eric Gould
