Colbert Commissions a New “Danny Boy” for St. Patrick's Day
March 18, 2016  | By Jim Davis

Stephen says the lyrics to the classic Irish weeper are just too depressing. For his new version, now with a happy ending, he commissioned world-renowned tenor Karl Scully to sing the ballad. It's unlikely to replace the world's favorite Irish anthem, but it provides some images that might be hard to dislodge from our noggins the next time we hear the original, which was composed by an Englishman and later adjusted to fit the tune of  "Londonderry Air." – Jim Davis
