WILL SUCCESS SPOIL ROCK HUNTER?
May 25, 2016  | By David Bianculli

TCM, 8:00 p.m. ET

Tony Randall is hilarious in this 1957 spoof of Madison Avenue, a comic version of Mad Men set and filmed during the actual era depicted in Mad Men. Randall plays the title character, an advertising copywriter – a sort of B-company Don Draper – who lands a sex-symbol spokeswoman, played by Jayne Mansfield, on the condition that he’ll pretend to be her latest lover. It’s the first of several Jayne Mansfield movies shown tonight on TCM, a roster that also includes, at 9:45 p.m. ET, the 1956 early rock music classic, The Girl Can’t Help It.
