THE AMERICANS

SEASON PREMIERE: When this series began four seasons ago, there wasn’t much thought given – at least not by me – to what might happen to the Jennings children down the road. But the road has led us here, and now, while parents Elizabeth and Philip (Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys) continue to carry out dangerous missions as deep-cover Soviet spies posing as American parents in Virginia, the most danger they’re facing this year is from their now-15-year-old daughter Paige (Holly Taylor). At the end of last season, after discovering her parents’ true background and mission, Paige confided that secret to her church pastor. So what happens now? With missions still to be run, and with her parents of different minds about whether to bring Paige into the family spy business, the start of Season 4 is the best year yet for a show that has gotten even better, dramatically and impressively, each year. For a full review, see Ed Bark's Uncle Barky's Bytes and for his take on the show, see David Hinckley's All Across the Watchtower
