MINISERIES PREMIERE: This eight-part drama, based on the novel by Celeste Ng, stars Reese Witherspoon as Elena, a suburban Ohio housewife who offers her rental property to an African-American artist and single mom named Mia – then hires her as a “house manager.” Mia is played by Kerry Washington, and Little Fires Everywhere quickly becomes a female-dominant drama akin to Witherspoon’s Big Little Lies. Although, for the sake of veracity, I should note that I lived for three years right next to Shaker Heights, OH, where this drama is set, and it and its residents are a lot more normal and boring than the ones portrayed here.
