U.S. SENATE PRESIDENTIAL IMPEACHMENT TRIAL
January 22, 2020  | By David Bianculli

The nonfiction political miniseries of the year continues: Day 2 of the Senate Impeachment Trial of President Donald J. Trump. In yesterday’s Day 1, one of the few things the Senate agreed upon, and accomplished, was to extend the initial proceedings of amendment-arguing from two days to three. So you can look forward to more of this tomorrow as well. And if you watch any of this, and feel compelled to turn it off because one speaker or another has tested and exhausted your patience, at least take solace in this: The senators in the chamber can’t leave, can’t talk, and can’t use phones or laptops.
