J.K. Simmons got an Oscar for his supporting role here, and deserved it. His performance as a domineering music teacher is so scary and ruthless, it makes his neo-Nazi prisoner Schillinger from Oz look like a proverbial pussycat. Wonderful movie – and Miles Teller, as the ambitious drum student, is wonderful, too.
