PARENTHOOD
January 15, 2013  | By David Bianculli  | 2 comments

NBC, 10:00 p.m. ET

Time flies when you’re having crises: The season’s almost over for Parenthood, as this is the show’s penultimate episode. And it’s a pivotal one, with Mark (Jason Ritter) returning to try and patch things up with Sarah (Lauren Graham), who’s torn between Mark and Hank (Ray Romano).

It seemed Parenthood was short, but 10 episodes! It has gotten better every year. It seems all the good series are shorter and shorter. My daughter sends me series from England and they are 6-8 episodes. Since so many UK series are being shown here maybe that has become the US model.

Really good episode. The Skittles shower at the end was a little too much, but I appreciate the drama without resorting to melodrama. Speaking of which, has NBC become so lame that they're willing to pay for only 10 episodes of their best hourlong show? And they wonder why no one watches NBC except those of us addicted to 30 Rock, Community and Parks and Rec.
